This policy explains what information GoGloveBox LLC ("GloveBox," "we," "us") collects through the GloveBox mobile app and the goglovebox.com website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show ads in the app.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and, if you choose, your name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the details that service shares with us.
- Vehicle details: the vehicles you add to your garage, including VIN, year, make, model, engine, and any nickname or mileage you enter.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.
- Launch list: the email address you submit on our website to hear when GloveBox launches.
Information the app collects when you use it
- Diagnostic data: when you scan your car, the app reads information from your vehicle through your adapter, such as diagnostic trouble codes, emissions readiness status, sensor readings and the vehicle's VIN. Scan results are saved to the vehicle's history.
- Adapter details: the Bluetooth name and identifier of your adapter, so the app can reconnect to it.
- Location: only if you turn on features that need it, such as trip mapping. You can turn location off at any time in your phone's settings.
- Camera: used only when you choose to scan a VIN barcode. The image is processed on your phone to read the VIN and is not uploaded or stored.
- Device and app information: device model, operating system, app version, and crash and performance reports that help us fix problems.
Information the website collects
Our website is hosted by Netlify, which records standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on the website.
How we use information
- To run the app: connect to your adapter, read and explain codes, and keep your garage and scan history.
- To identify your vehicle: we send the VIN to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vPIC service to look up year, make, model and engine.
- To sync your data across devices and restore it if you change phones.
- To respond to support requests and send messages you ask for, such as the launch email.
- To fix bugs, keep the service secure, and improve features.
- To meet legal obligations.
How we share information
We share information only as described here:
- Service providers that host our website and app data, provide sign-in, deliver email, or report crashes. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- NHTSA vPIC, which receives a VIN to return vehicle details.
- Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or GloveBox.
- Business changes: if GoGloveBox LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that deal under this policy's protections.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep account, vehicle and scan data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete this data within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal reasons. Launch-list emails are kept until launch or until you ask us to remove them.
Your choices
- Delete your account from the app's settings, or by emailing us.
- Access, correct or delete your information by emailing support@goglovebox.com. We respond within 30 days.
- Turn off permissions such as location, camera or Bluetooth in your phone's settings. Some features won't work without them.
- Leave the launch list using the link in any email or by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws. Contact us to exercise them; we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if required by law.
Children
GloveBox is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
